Ebbw Vale Line Opening

NCB recently attended the grand opening of the new train service between Ebbw Vale and Newport at Llanhilleth Railway Station.

NCB acted as the AsBo, ApBo and DeBo for this project and were delighted to be invited along to the opening. Representatives from NCB were joined by Network Rail, Transport for Wales, the Welsh Government, Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council and the local community – including children from St Illtyd’s Primary School – marked the end of the project at an event in Llanhilleth yesterday.

After a reception at Llanhilleth Miners Institute, Welsh Government deputy minister for climate change Lee Waters cut a ribbon and unveiled a plaque on the new platform at Llanhilleth as those who made the project possible – and those who will benefit from the upgrades – came together to officially recognise the improvements.

Funded by Llywodraeth, this project will provide a higher frequency service to the community it serves. A culmination of almost 3 years of work to upgrade the track, signalling and stations.
